Australia's tallest building

Trump Group Plans Record-Breaking Tower in Australia

The Trump Organization has unveiled plans to develop a landmark skyscraper on Australia’s Gold Coast, a project it says would become the tallest building in the country once completed.

The proposed Trump International Hotel & Tower will rise to about 335 metres and feature 91 storeys, according to details released by the company. The development is planned for Gold Coast and would surpass the height of London’s The Shard.

Announcing the project, Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization and son of US President Donald Trump, said the development would introduce a global luxury brand to the Australian market. He described it as the company’s first official venture in the country.

The project, estimated to cost at least $1bn, is being developed in partnership with Altus Property Group, which said construction is expected to begin in August. Plans include 285 hotel rooms, 272 high-end residential apartments, luxury retail and dining spaces, and a private beach club along the coastline.

Despite the announcement, the tower may face competition for the title of Australia’s tallest building. A separate twin-tower proposal on the same stretch of beachfront is expected to be even taller, while construction on the 101-storey One Park Lane project is also scheduled to start later this year.

The Trump Organization operates or licenses its brand across more than 20 locations worldwide, spanning hotels, residential towers and golf resorts in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The company focuses on luxury real estate and hospitality, often partnering with local developers.

The announcement comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the Trump Organization, with critics raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest linked to Donald Trump’s presidency. Although the president previously pledged not to be involved in the day-to-day management of the business while in office, questions about the company’s global expansion have persisted.

The Trump Organization has consistently denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that its projects are run independently and in line with applicable laws and regulations.
