Wizkid Taught Me That Confidence Doesn’t Have to Be Loud, Says Ayra Starr
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has said her experiences working with Wizkid reshaped her understanding of confidence, describing the Grammy-winning star as a powerful example of calm self-assurance.
Speaking during an interview following her performance at the Grammy Museum, Ayra Starr referred to Wizkid as a “leading legend” and reflected on how his personality influenced her outlook as an artist.
She recalled that her first collaboration with Wizkid left her overwhelmed by the moment, but it was their subsequent interaction that left a lasting impression.
“The second time, he was very calm, cool and relaxed,” she said, noting that his composed demeanour showed her that confidence does not require noise or excessive display.
According to Ayra Starr, Wizkid’s quiet certainty and sense of purpose stood out. She explained that observing how he carries himself helped her understand that true confidence comes from being grounded and clear about one’s life mission.
“He’s very present and confident in his life mission, and that made me learn a lot,” she added.
Ayra Starr has continued to gain international recognition in recent years, with performances and appearances on major global platforms, while Wizkid remains one of Nigeria’s most influential music exports.
