17 Bodies Recovered After Lagos Boat Accident
A total of 17 bodies have been recovered in Nigeria’s commercial capital city of Lagos after a boat accident that led to a frantic search for passengers, the inland waterways agency revealed.
According to the Lagos State Waterways Authority, the commuter boat had set sail against rules that bar night movement. Unfortunately, the tide carried the vessel towards a barge, causing it to capsize.
While 13 bodies were found on Sunday, an additional 4 had been recovered the day before. The boat had been carrying 16 passengers, including children, and the captain.
