50 Cent Launches His Own TV Channel in Partnership with Lionsgate
50 Cent is expanding his entertainment empire with the launch of his own television channel, 50 Cent Action, in collaboration with Lionsgate. The new venture, announced on August 1, will be a free-to-air, ad-supported channel featuring a mix of films and TV series from Lionsgate’s extensive catalogue.
The channel will showcase 50 Cent’s popular “Power” series, along with over a dozen films starring the rapper and actor, including “The Expendables 4.” The channel will also feature the entire “Expendables” franchise, starring action legends Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham.
Jim Packer, Lionsgate’s president of worldwide television distribution, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “50 Cent’s movies and television series are synonymous with non-stop action, and we’re thrilled to extend our longstanding partnership into the FAST [free ad-supported streaming] space.”
In a statement, 50 Cent highlighted his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “This channel will bring diverse, action-packed content to audiences everywhere, reflecting my passion for storytelling and providing a platform for fresh, dynamic voices. I look forward to working closely with all the FAST platforms to make this a successful channel.”
The rapper-turned-entrepreneur also promoted the new channel on Instagram, encouraging fans to sign up for updates and teasing the exclusive content and action-packed programming that will be available for free. “Shh don’t tell nobody I’m working, it’s time to turn it up a notch 50centAction all platforms coming soon!” he wrote, alongside the channel’s logo.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 50 Cent discussed his vision for the channel, emphasizing the importance of high-quality content. “There’s going to be new content in there, but I got access to a huge library of action films. It’s got to be premium. I don’t want to see me like I see my people on Tubi. I’ll make sure the quality of everything is there,” he explained. He also hinted at future expansions, including spinoffs from the “BMF” series.
The partnership with Lionsgate marks a significant step in 50 Cent’s career, as he continues to diversify his ventures and create new opportunities for storytelling in the action genre. The channel’s launch adds to his impressive portfolio of work in film and television, including previous roles in Lionsgate productions like “Escape Plan,” “The Frozen Ground,” and the recently released “Boneyard” featuring Mel Gibson.
