Bella Shmurda Describes Music As ‘Warfare,’ Tool For Social Impact
Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has said that music goes beyond entertainment, describing it as a powerful tool for societal progress and influence.
Speaking in the For Bunmi documentary, the ‘Cash App’ crooner characterised music as both expressive and transformative.
“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for the society. Music is a tool of progress. Music is an instrument of goodwill. Music is a tool to keep people sane, to put them in the right state of mind, to make them dance away their sorrow, and to make them feel alive and self-conscious,” he said.
The artist also spoke about how fatherhood has influenced his creative direction, noting that it has made him more mindful of the content he produces.
According to him, he now considers how his children will perceive his work in the future, adding that he wants them to be proud of his music as they grow older.
His comments highlight the evolving perspective of artists who increasingly see their craft as a vehicle for both personal expression and broader social impact.
