OPay has extended support to more than 1,000 students in Osun State through its Play4aChild Initiative, providing educational materials to learners across several schools as part of efforts to promote access to quality education and youth development.

The fintech company partnered with the Do Good Charity Back-To-School project for the outreach, which also benefited 40 students living with disabilities.

Beneficiary schools included Osogbo Grammar School, Oloofa Grammar School, St. Georges’ Primary School, Special Needs Secondary School, Salvation Army Grammar School, and Union Baptist Primary School.

According to the company, the initiative reflects its continued commitment to community empowerment and educational support for young Nigerians.

Play4aChild is integrated into the OPay app and allows users to contribute to charitable causes through their daily activities on the platform. Users earn points by carrying out transactions such as paying utility bills, making purchases, and engaging with games and other app services, with the points converted into donations for social impact projects.

Speaking on the initiative, OPay’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Itoro Udo, described education as a critical tool for shaping the future of young people and communities.

She said the intervention demonstrates how routine app activities carried out by users can create meaningful impact for students in need.

Udo added that seeing over 1,000 students, including those with disabilities, benefit from the programme was encouraging and aligned with the company’s commitment to improving lives beyond financial services.

Representatives of the beneficiary schools also commended the initiative, describing it as timely and beneficial to students and their families.

OPay encouraged users to continue participating in the Play4aChild initiative through the Rewards section of the app, noting that everyday transactions can help support charitable projects and vulnerable communities.
