Burna Boy Makes History as First Male Artist to Top Spotify’s Global Music Video Chart
Nigerian music star Burna Boy has become the first male artist to reach the top of Spotify’s newly launched Global Music Video Chart, marking another milestone in his international career.
The achievement comes through Dai Dai, his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira, which currently leads the platform’s new chart. The feat also makes Burna Boy the first African artist to claim the number one position since the chart’s debut.
The song has continued its strong performance across major music platforms. This week, Dai Dai climbed to a new peak of No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, with industry projections suggesting it could break into the top 10 following Burna Boy and Shakira’s performance during the FIFA World Cup final halftime show on Sunday.
On YouTube, the track remains the most-viewed music video released in 2026, having amassed close to 500 million views. It has also previously reached the top spot on Apple Music’s Global Songs Chart.
The success of Dai Dai has also boosted Burna Boy’s streaming records. The Grammy-winning singer has now extended his lead as the African artist with the highest monthly listeners in Spotify history, surpassing 53 million monthly listeners.
He has also set a new benchmark on YouTube Music, becoming the African artist with the platform’s highest monthly audience, with more than 600 million monthly listeners.
