Burna Boy and Shakira’s ‘Dai Dai’ Sets New Record as Highest-Charting FIFA World Cup Song

Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has added another milestone to his career after his FIFA World Cup collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira, Dai Dai, became the highest-charting World Cup song in history.

The track climbed 25 places on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, reaching a new peak at No. 17. The achievement sees Dai Dai overtake Shakira and South African group Freshlyground’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which had long held the record as the highest-charting official World Cup anthem.

The song also reached No. 3 on this week’s Canadian Hot 100 and is currently in contention for the top position on the UK Official Singles Chart.

In a separate development, Billboard has officially discontinued its World Digital Song Sales chart, with the final edition published on June 27, 2026.

The chart tracked the commercial performance of songs from international markets, including Nigeria, Asia, the Caribbean, South Africa and other territories, and served as a key indicator of the global success of music outside the mainstream U.S. market.

Over the years, several Nigerian stars recorded chart-topping success on the now-retired ranking, including Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Rema.
