A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s Baby Name Revealed
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have officially unveiled the name of their second child, born earlier this summer, as per a birth certificate obtained by TMZ. The couple’s baby boy has been named Riot Rose Mayers, continuing the family tradition of “R” names, following their first child, RZA, named after the Wu-Tang Clan legend.
The name “Riot” coincides with A$AP Rocky’s recent single “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n),” released in July. This track is expected to be included in his upcoming album, “Don’t Be Dumb.”
The birth certificate also clarified the baby’s birth date, revealing that he was born on August 1, not August 3 as initially reported. Rihanna gave birth privately in Los Angeles, where their first child, RZA, was also born in May 2022.
For nearly a year, the couple kept their first son’s name a secret until his birth certificate was eventually leaked to the press, disclosing his full name as RZA Athelston Mayers. Upon hearing about the name, the legendary Wu-Tang Clan member, RZA, expressed his appreciation, considering it a “great honour.”
RZA stated in an interview with CNN, “[It’s a] great honour to know that there’s another generation that’s not even of my own household that feels the strength and the inspiration of that name. RZA is only a name; it’s a title. So it’s an honour, and I salute her and A$AP and their family. All the blessings in the world from me.”
A$AP Rocky himself revealed that he was named after the renowned rapper Rakim, emphasizing the tradition of naming children after legendary hip-hop artists within the family.
Rihanna initially announced her second pregnancy in February, after she was seen with a noticeable bump during her performance at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show. In an interview with British Vogue earlier this year, the music sensation described her early experiences with motherhood as “legendary” and “everything,” emphasizing how it changed her life completely.
