Amazon Refreshes Fire TV Interface With Cleaner Design, Expanded App Pins and Alexa+

Amazon has announced an update to its Fire TV operating system, introducing a cleaner user interface, expanded customization options and deeper integration of its new Alexa+ experience.

The redesign does not overhaul Fire TV entirely, but it introduces noticeable visual and functional changes aimed at making the platform feel faster and more modern. Rounded corners now replace sharp edges across menus and tiles, giving the interface a softer appearance that aligns more closely with contemporary smart TV platforms such as Google TV.

One of the most significant changes is increased home screen customization. Fire TV users can now pin up to 20 apps, a substantial jump from the previous limit of six. Amazon says the update is designed to make it easier for users to access frequently used streaming, live TV and gaming apps without navigating multiple menus or relying heavily on voice commands.

The update also embeds Alexa+ more deeply into Fire TV. According to Amazon, the upgraded assistant is more conversational and context-aware, allowing users to make natural requests such as asking for family-friendly movie recommendations or searching by actors, scenes or genres without strict phrasing.

Amazon has also promised performance improvements, including faster load times and smoother navigation. However, the company noted that the most noticeable gains will be seen on newer Fire TV devices, while older hardware may experience more limited improvements.

Despite the changes, Fire TV remains closely tied to Amazon’s ecosystem. Prime Video continues to be prominently featured on the home screen, alongside strong visibility for Amazon-owned services compared to third-party apps.

The updated Fire TV interface will begin rolling out in the United States in February, starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Generation) and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series. Amazon said the update will expand to other devices and international markets in the spring, including the latest Fire TV 4K streaming players and television models such as the Fire TV 2-Series, 4-Series and Omni QLED Series.
