Amber Heard Officially Appeals Depp Trial Verdict
Hollywood actress, Amber Heard has finally filed an official appeal for the verdict in the highly publicized defamation case against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, which she lost.
The actress’ legal representatives have submitted the required paperwork in Fairfax County, Virginia, to appeal the $10.3 million judgment that a jury had ordered her to pay her ex-husband in June.
“We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment. We are therefore appealing the verdict. While we realize today’s filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice,” Heard told TMZ
It would be recalled that the jury had determined that Johnny must pay Amber $2 million, making it official that she owes him $8.3 million in damages.
However, Amber has vowed to appeal the decision ever since the verdict was announced and has gone ahead to make it official.
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp doesn’t seem concerned that Amber actually filed an appeal of the judgment based on the response from his representative.
According to TMZ, his rep says that “the jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp in multiple instances. We remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand.”
