Mohbad’s Widow Alleges Threats, Accuses Naira Marley and Others of Attack

Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has alleged that her life and that of her one-year-old son, Liam, are in danger.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omowunmi claimed she has been receiving frequent death threats and accused her late husband’s former label boss, Naira Marley, and his associates of attacking her.

“We no longer feel safe. I literally get death threats almost every day in my DMs. It has really gotten to a point where it’s either I speak up or I die in silence,” she stated.

She further alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, has been making efforts to take control of Mohbad’s properties and has also been making disparaging remarks about her son.

“My father-in-law wants to be in control of Mohbad’s properties, or he will go all out to destroy my life,” she said. “He officiated my marriage and was the happiest, but now he calls our son a bastard. He even claimed Mohbad wanted to throw our baby into the Third Mainland Bridge.”

Mohbad, who passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, had previously left Naira Marley’s Marlian Music over claims of contractual breaches. Following his death, accusations were directed at Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, who had been seen assaulting the singer in a viral video.

Both men were arrested and remanded in custody in October 2023 but were later granted bail after pleading not guilty to charges related to Mohbad’s death.
