Drake Disses Marriage! ‘It Seems Like a Thing of Ancient Times…’
Award-winning rapper and music icon, Drake, known for his chart-topping hits and high-profile relationships, recently shared his candid thoughts on marriage and settling down.
In an interview on ‘The Really Good Podcast with Bobbi Althoff,’ the five-time Grammy winner shed light on why he has not taken the plunge into matrimony despite being linked to several A-listers, including Rashida Jones, Tyra Banks, Julia Fox, and Rihanna.
Drake expressed his scepticism about the institution of marriage, referring to it as something from “ancient times or something.” While he didn’t completely rule out the possibility of marriage in the future, he admitted that he is currently focused on his work and personal priorities.
“I don’t know, I don’t think I can offer somebody what they’d be looking for. Just consistency. I think my life, my work is my priority,” Drake said.
The podcast host, Bobbi, playfully suggested that Drake’s reluctance to settle down is so he can continue “sleeping around.” The rapper responded with a more earnest perspective, stating that he doesn’t want to get married because he fears disappointing someone and believes he may not be able to provide the level of consistency a partner would expect.
Moreover, Drake made it clear that he is not interested in pursuing a relationship with another famous face. He shared his preference for someone who is unique, with a sense of humour and independence. The rapper emphasized that he admires individuals who are not mere carbon copies of others he has encountered in the spotlight.
When the topic of cosplay came up, Drake expressed interest in a partner who enjoys it but clarified that he does not necessarily need them to dress up for him. He appreciates the concept and finds it intriguing when someone is into it, even if not directly related to their relationship.
Drake’s personal life has been a subject of media interest, and he made headlines when he revealed his secret son, Adonis, in 2018. The six-year-old boy’s mother is French artist and former porn star, Sophie Brussaux.
In December, the rapper sparked controversy when he flaunted a necklace adorned with diamonds from engagement rings. The jewellery piece, titled ‘Previous Engagements’ by designer Alex Moss, comprised 42 engagement rings and 351.38 carats in diamonds.
