Lil Wayne Confirms ‘Tha Carter VI’ Will Drop by the End of 2025
Lil Wayne has reassured fans eagerly awaiting his next album, Tha Carter VI, that it will be released before the close of 2025.
During an interview with AT&T at the College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta on Monday, January 20, the rap icon was asked about the long-anticipated project’s release. His response was brief but firm: “Guaranteed.”
This update marks the clearest indication yet that the follow-up to 2020’s Funeral is on the horizon. The Young Money mogul has been teasing Tha Carter VI for years, and snippets of his work with some unexpected collaborators have kept the buzz alive.
Last year, legendary producer Warren G disclosed that he contributed to the album. Speaking on SiriusXM, he revealed: “I got a record called ‘All Alone’ with Lil Wayne. It’s gonna be on Tha Carter VI. They reached out and said, ‘We need this, Warren.’ It’s me and Wayne, and that track is vicious. When people hear it, they’re going to be blown away.”
Another notable collaboration was accidentally revealed by NBA star Kevin Durant, who mentioned that he had worked on a track with Wayne for the album. While speaking with Taylor Rooks, the New Orleans rapper humorously expressed his frustration at Durant’s slip: “Why would KD do that? That was supposed to be under wraps. Now that it’s out, that song might not make it onto Tha Carter VI.”
The unreleased song, originally planned for Wayne’s Welcome 2 ColleGrove joint project with 2 Chainz, was later considered for Tha Carter VI. Wayne has yet to confirm if it will ultimately appear on the album.
Fans can look forward to more updates in the coming months as Tha Carter VI shapes up to be one of the year’s most anticipated releases.
