Anthony Joshua: Billionaire Status Can’t Be Achieved Through Music or Sports Alone

Nigerian-British boxing champion Anthony Joshua has shared his perspective on wealth creation, asserting that reaching billionaire status is unlikely through careers in entertainment or sports alone.

The two-time world heavyweight champion emphasized the importance of focusing on business and long-term sustainability, rather than being swept away by the allure of fame.

In a post shared on his Snapchat, Joshua advised, “To reach billionaire status, it will not be through sports, music, or entertainment. Don’t get lost in the hype; focus on sustainability, books, and business ethics.”

Few Billionaire Entertainers and Athletes Worldwide

While the entertainment and sports industries produce some of the world’s highest earners, very few individuals in these fields achieve billionaire status. Those who do often credit their wealth to business ventures and endorsements rather than their primary careers.

Prominent examples include Jay-Z, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, and others who have diversified their income streams through investments, brand partnerships, and entrepreneurial ventures, according to Forbes.

A Focus on Business

Joshua’s comments highlight the growing narrative among successful athletes and entertainers to build wealth beyond their professions. By encouraging a focus on financial literacy and business acumen, the boxing star reinforces the importance of planning for sustainability and life after the spotlight fades.

With his own investments and ventures, Joshua appears to be practising what he preaches, setting an example for others in the industry to follow.
