Asake’s ‘Work Of Art’ Tops International Charts as Best Nigerian Album of 2023

Asake’s second studio album, “Work Of Art,” has received global recognition, securing the title of the best Nigerian album of 2023 by esteemed international entertainment news agencies.

Released on June 16, 2023, the 14-track album has solidified Asake’s position as one of Nigeria’s foremost Afrobeats exports. Rollingstone, a prominent entertainment news agency, positioned “Work Of Art” as the best Nigerian album of the year, ranking it second in the list of the best African albums of 2023, just behind Amaarae’s “Fountain Baby” album.

The top 100 albums of 2023 list featured Asake, alongside Amaarae, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, and Adekunle Gold. The ranking of African albums on the list includes:

  1. “Fountain Baby” – Amaarae
  2. “Work Of Art” – Asake
  3. “The Evil Genius” – Mr. Eazi
  4. “I Told Them…” – Burna Boy
  5. “Tequila Ever After” – Adekunle Gold

Rollingstone wasn’t the sole media outlet recognizing Asake’s accomplishment. Jon Caramanica of The New York Times also ranked “Work Of Art” as the best album released in 2023.

This latest accolade adds to Asake’s string of achievements, building on his breakout debut in 2022. Additionally, he clinched the title of the most streamed artist in Nigeria on Spotify’s end-of-year chart list.
