Ayra Starr Earns Two Nominations At 2026 MOBO Awards

Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has secured two nominations at the 2026 MOBO Awards, earning spots in the Best African Music Act and Best International Act categories.

The nominations were announced on Thursday, with organisers unveiling a diverse list of artistes drawn from across four continents. Starr’s double recognition comes a year after she made history as the first African female artist to win both categories in the same year.

She will face stiff competition once again, as the categories feature several high-profile global acts.

Other Nigerian musicians also made a strong showing on this year’s list. Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, Rema and Shallipopi each picked up one nomination, further highlighting Nigeria’s growing influence on the global music scene.

The 2026 edition of the MOBO Awards will mark the organisation’s 30th anniversary. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 26, 2026, at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester.

The MOBO Awards celebrate achievements in Black music and culture, recognising artists across genres such as Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, reggae and more.
