Balenciaga Introduces Foldable Zip-Up “Pocket Shoe” At Paris Show
Luxury fashion house Balenciaga has unveiled a new packable footwear design known as the “Pocket Shoe,” pushing the boundaries of sneaker innovation once again.

The new silhouette was first revealed during the brand’s Fall/Winter 2027 runway show in Paris, where it drew attention for its unusual foldable design and outdoor-inspired aesthetic.

Early videos and images show the shoe featuring a lightweight synthetic upper, a double-layer nylon collar, zip closures, and abstract Balenciaga branding. Its standout feature is its collapsible structure — the shoe folds in half and zips together, allowing it to be compressed into a compact, portable form. When folded, the rugged tread of the sole remains visible, giving the design a striking finish.

The Pocket Shoe marks Balenciaga’s move into the popular “gorpcore” trend, which blends high fashion with utilitarian outdoor styles. It follows a line of unconventional footwear from the brand, including the Triple S, 6XL, and Barefoot Zero models.

While the design is being celebrated for its creativity, fashion observers have noted similarities to earlier packable shoe concepts from mainstream brands. Timberland introduced a foldable trail shoe in 2011, while Merrell has explored zip-together footwear in past collections.
Balenciaga has not yet announced pricing or an official release date for the Pocket Shoe, but the reveal has already sparked conversation across the fashion and sneaker communities.
