‘Beetlejuice 2,’ Starring Michael Keaton and Jenna Ortega, to Hit Theaters in 2024

Warner Bros. has announced that “Beetlejuice 2” will be hitting theaters on September 6, 2024. The sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 film is set to feature the return of Michael Keaton as the titular character and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, along with new cast members such as “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux in an undisclosed role.

The film’s production is expected to begin on May 10 in London, and it will be produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B.

Not much is currently known about the plot of the sequel, but in the first film, a recently deceased couple hires the devious ghost Beetlejuice to help them haunt the new family that moved into their home. “Beetlejuice” was both a critical and commercial success, grossing $74.7 million and inspiring a Tony-nominated stage musical.

“Beetlejuice 2” is set to open on the same day as Marvel’s “Blade,” starring Mahershala Ali, and there are no other major releases currently set on the calendar in the surrounding weeks. Warner Bros. has previously had success over Labor Day weekend with hits like “It” and its sequel, “It: Chapter 2,” as well as “The Nun.”

Overall, fans of the original “Beetlejuice” film and newcomers alike can look forward to seeing what the beloved poltergeist has in store when the sequel hits theaters in 2024.
