Billboard Reveals Grammy 2024 Categories With Highest and Lowest Submissions for Nominations

As the Recording Academy opened its second round of voting for potential nominations at the Grammy Awards 2024 on October 11, 2023, media outlet Billboard has unveiled a breakdown of categories with varying levels of submissions.

In the build-up to the announcement of Grammy nominees, Billboard delved into the submission data to analyze how many entries were made per category, revealing insights into the ever-evolving dynamics of the music industry’s most prestigious event. This year, certain categories have experienced a decline in submissions, a phenomenon influenced by multiple factors, including a new entry fee rule.

The 66th Grammy Awards rules and guidelines booklet included a rule specifying the introduction of an entry fee structure beyond five “courtesy entries.” This alteration aimed to encourage entrants to be selective and deliberate about the works they submit, emphasizing the importance of truly “Grammy-worthy” submissions. To support members who might find the fees burdensome, provisions were made for fee waivers upon request to the awards department.

Among the notable findings, Billboard reported the categories with the highest and lowest submission counts for Grammy consideration in 2024:
