Burna Boy Announces New Album, Rolls Out ‘Big 7’ Single | Watch Video

Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy has delighted fans with the release of his latest single, “Big 7,” which comes as a prelude to his highly anticipated seventh studio album, titled “I Told Them.” The album is scheduled to hit the music scene on August 24 and will be released under Spaceship/Bad Habit/Atlantic Record.

Accompanying the new single is a visually captivating music video directed by Benny Boom. Shot in the vibrant streets of New York City, the video features special appearances from renowned artists and entertainers such as RZA, Busta Rhymes, Junior Mafia, and actor Shameik Moore.

In a statement, Burna Boy shared his inspiration behind “Big 7,” describing it as a melodic tribute to embracing new heights in his musical journey. The title “Big 7” symbolizes his aspiration to reach greater horizons, with the number seven embodying harmonious growth and attainable progress.

“Big 7” follows Burna Boy’s previous single, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World,” featuring the talented rapper 21 Savage. Additionally, he recently collaborated with Saint Kittian artist Byron Messia for a fresh rendition of Messia’s hit track, “Talibans,” titled “Talibans II.”

Last summer, Burna Boy released his critically acclaimed album, “Love, Damini,” which included notable collaborations with artists like Ed Sheeran, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Khalid, and J Balvin. The 19-track LP garnered praise from Rolling Stone, which described it as an urgent, heartfelt, and immensely personal reflection of Burna Boy’s struggles, triumphs, and aspirations, destined to introduce his unique sounds and high-minded hymns to an even broader audience.

Since then, the Nigerian musician has participated in various collaborations, including contributions to British rapper J Hus’ latest album. Notably, he also featured on the soundtrack for the highly-anticipated movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” with his song “Alone.”

Burna Boy’s star power continues to soar, evident in his groundbreaking headlining performance at New York City’s Citi Field earlier this month. The historic event saw him become the first African artist ever to sell out a stadium in the United States, with an astounding crowd of over 40,000 fans. This remarkable achievement followed his sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden in 2022, solidifying his position as the first Nigerian artist to headline the iconic venue.
