Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems Earn 2025 NAACP Award Nominations
Nigerian music icons Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Tems have received nominations for the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, further solidifying their influence on the global music stage.
The 56th edition of the prestigious awards will take place on February 22 at the Pasadena Civic Center in California, celebrating Black excellence across various fields.
Wizkid secured two nominations for his hit song Piece of My Heart featuring Brent Faiyaz. The track is up for Outstanding Duo or Collaboration and Outstanding International Song.
Burna Boy earned a nomination for Outstanding Duo or Collaboration for Coming Home, his collaboration with Usher. Similarly, Tems is in the running for Outstanding International Song for her single Love Me JeJe.
In addition to the musicians, Nigerian-American actress Ayo Edebiri was recognized in five categories, including Outstanding Voiceover and Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, highlighting her versatile talents.
South African artist Tyla also earned a nomination in the Outstanding New Artist category, adding to the representation of African talent at this year’s event.
The NAACP Image Awards continue to celebrate artists and creatives who uplift Black culture and narratives, with this year’s nominees showcasing the global impact of African and African-American contributions to entertainment and the arts.
