Atlanta Mayor Declares November 18 ‘Davido Day’

Atlanta’s Mayor, Andre Dickens, alongside the Atlanta City Council, has officially designated November 18 as ‘Davido Day’ in honour of the renowned Nigerian-American singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. This recognition comes in the wake of Davido’s headline performance at the A.W.A.Y Festival held at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

In a heartfelt message extended to the singer on his birthday, November 21, 2023, Mayor Dickens acknowledged Davido’s significant contributions to the global music industry. The Mayor praised Davido for captivating audiences worldwide and commended his multifaceted roles as a singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate.

The Mayor expressed gratitude on behalf of the City of Atlanta, stating, “Thank you for your tireless efforts and remarkable career. You continue to amass accolades and use your platform to make a positive impact on communities both in the United States and throughout Africa.”

Furthermore, the Atlanta City Council issued an official statement proclaiming November 18, 2023, as ‘Davido Day’ in the City of Atlanta, recognizing the artist’s cultural influence and achievements.

Simultaneously, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners has joined in honouring Davido by declaring November 21 as “Davido Appreciation Day” in Fulton County, Georgia. The Board emphasized Davido’s remarkable contributions to the music and entertainment industry, expressing gratitude for his positive influence.

In response to the dual honours bestowed upon him, Davido expressed gratitude on his social media platforms, acknowledging the significance of being recognized in both the City of Atlanta and Fulton County.
