Call of Duty 2026

Call of Duty 2026 Reportedly in Development for Next-Gen Xbox

The 2026 installment of Call of Duty, rumored to be another Modern Warfare title, is reportedly being developed exclusively for the next-generation Xbox, according to a well-known leaker.

The claim comes from TheGhostOfHope, a prominent Call of Duty insider, who shared the information on X (formerly Twitter) following news that Season 3 of Black Ops 6 had been delayed until April.

Unlike Call of Duty 2025, which is expected to launch on both current and past-generation consoles, the 2026 title is allegedly being developed solely for next-gen hardware. If accurate, this could hint at a Fall 2026 launch for the new Xbox console.

Additionally, Hope suggested that if the return of Verdansk in Warzone fails to reignite player interest, plans for a third installment of the free-to-play Battle Royale series could be scrapped.

So far, neither Microsoft nor Activision have confirmed any details about Call of Duty 2026 or even Call of Duty 2025. However, industry sources indicate that the next game in the franchise will be a Black Ops 2 sequel, developed by Treyarch Games, after internal disagreements led Sledgehammer Games to push for its own standalone Call of Duty release in 2027.

While these reports remain unverified, the possibility of Call of Duty 2026 being tailored for next-generation hardware adds an intriguing layer to speculation about the future of the franchise.
