Jay-Z Files Lawsuit Against Rape Accuser and Lawyers, Alleging False Claims

Jay-Z has taken legal action against his anonymous rape accuser and her attorneys, following their decision to withdraw allegations against him.

In a lawsuit filed on Monday, March 3, the rap mogul accused the woman, identified as Jane Doe, along with lawyers Tony Buzbee and David Fortney, of orchestrating an “evil conspiracy” to extort him through what he describes as “completely fabricated” claims of sexual assault.

According to the lawsuit, the accuser allegedly admitted to JAY-Z’s legal representatives that she fabricated her claims, which originally accused the Roc Nation founder of raping her in 2000 when she was 13 years old. Music mogul Diddy was also named in the since-dismissed case.

“Doe has now voluntarily admitted directly to representatives of Mr. Carter [JAY-Z] that the story brought before the world in court and on global television was just that: a false, malicious story,” the lawsuit states.

The filing further alleges that her lawyer, Buzbee, played a role in pushing the false allegations, meeting her for the first time at a coffee shop in Houston on the same day as her interview with NBC News.

Jay-Z is suing for defamation, malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy. He is seeking punitive damages and claims to have lost $20 million in business due to the accusations.

In response, Buzbee dismissed the lawsuit as meritless, accusing JAY-Z’s team of harassing the woman and attempting to pressure her into recanting her story. He also claimed investigators linked to the rapper have been caught offering money to individuals to file suits against him and his firm.

The accuser, through TMZ, maintains that she stands by her claims, despite previously acknowledging inconsistencies in her account. She further alleges that JAY-Z’s team has been pressuring her to sign an affidavit retracting her allegations.

JAY-Z has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
