Capcom Announces New Mobile Strategy Game, Resident Evil: Survival Unit
Capcom has unveiled the latest addition to its Resident Evil franchise – a mobile real-time strategy game titled Resident Evil: Survival Unit, set to launch on iPhone and Android devices.
Developed in collaboration with Joycity Corporation and Aniplex, the upcoming title marks a significant departure from the series’ traditional survival-horror roots. Instead, Survival Unit will introduce players to strategic, top-down gameplay more in line with Joycity’s previous work, such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War.
Details remain limited, but Survival Unit is expected to feature the familiar undead-infested world of Resident Evil, reimagined through the lens of resource management and tactical planning. The full reveal is scheduled for July 10, when Capcom is likely to debut a trailer and possibly share early gameplay footage or a release window.
Unlike the recently announced Resident Evil Requiem, which promises a high-budget console experience, Survival Unit is tailored specifically for mobile audiences and won’t be part of the franchise’s mainline entries.
The announcement has sparked mixed reactions among fans – some intrigued by the genre shift, others unsure about how the RTS format will integrate with Resident Evil’s horror-driven legacy.
More updates are expected in the coming days as Capcom expands the franchise into new territory.
