Cardi B and Offset’s Home Security Alert: Police Respond to Intruder Posing as Journalist

Cardi B and Offset found themselves in a concerning situation as a man posing as a journalist attempted to film their home, leading to a call to the police.

In an undated video that circulated, an unidentified individual was seen trying to capture footage of the couple’s residence in the upscale Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs. Security personnel stationed at the property initially asked the man to leave, with one guard even blocking his camera to prevent further filming. As the trespasser persisted, the security team called local law enforcement for assistance.

Upon the police’s arrival, the unidentified man insisted he was a journalist and incorrectly claimed that the First Amendment allowed him to “walk down the street and record.” He went on to threaten the police officer with obtaining his personal information, citing it as public record. The self-proclaimed journalist was eventually removed by the police.

The First Amendment right to record, as outlined by the Reporter’s Committee for the Freedom of the Press, pertains to capturing the activities of government officials in public places and does not extend to recording private property or celebrities in non-public settings, according to Georgia state laws.

In Georgia, it is prohibited to use a camera “without the consent of all persons observed, to observe, photograph, or record the activities of another which occur in any private place and out of public view” (Ga. Code Ann. § 16-11-62(2)).

At present, it remains uncertain whether the man posing as a journalist has been arrested, whether he will face charges for trespassing, or if Cardi B and/or Offset plan to pursue legal action against him.

This incident marked the second legal matter involving Cardi B in as many days. The rapper is also preparing to take legal action after her voice was cloned for a video promoting a fraudulent stimulus scam.

Taking to Twitter/X, Cardi shared the doctored clip featuring an artificial version of her voice encouraging viewers to claim “free” money. In response, Cardi expressed her readiness to pursue legal action, stating, “AI is crazy smh…another lawsuit that fell right on my lap…I love easy money.”
