Cardi B Announces Sophomore Album ‘Am I the Drama?’ Set for September Release

After a seven-year wait, Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has officially revealed the title and release date of her much-anticipated second studio album. Titled Am I the Drama?, the project is set to drop on September 19, 2025, marking her first full-length release since her chart-topping debut Invasion of Privacy in 2018.

The announcement came alongside the unveiling of the album’s striking cover art, which features Cardi in an extravagant red gown, flanked by two black crows – imagery that hints at themes of transformation, vengeance, and power.

In a cinematic Instagram video teasing the album, Cardi reflected on her journey over the past seven years. “Seven years and the time has come. Seven years of love, light and loss… I’m not back, I’m beyond. I’m not your villain, I’m your karma,” she declared in the dramatic monologue, suggesting the album will be both deeply personal and confrontational.

Earlier this year, Cardi hinted that delays in the album’s rollout were due to pending collaborations. Speaking on X Spaces, she expressed frustration at waiting on guest verses. “I really need these f*ing features… Y’all don’t want to miss this opportunity. I’ll sing this st myself if I have to!”

The album’s lead single, “Outside,” dropped last Friday and quickly grabbed attention – not only for its aggressive tone but also for its lyrics seemingly aimed at her estranged husband, Offset. In the song, Cardi doesn’t mince words:

“Good-for-nothing, low-down dirty dogs, I’m convinced / Next time you see your mama, tell her how she raised a bitch.”

She also makes a pointed reference to her rumored relationship with NFL star Stefon Diggs, rapping:

“Favorite player from your favorite team, he in my DM… Might let him dunk this [expletive] like he dunk the ball.”

While Offset has yet to publicly respond to the track, he released his own single, “Bodies” featuring JID, which notably omits any mention of Cardi or their ongoing split.

With Am I the Drama? on the horizon, anticipation is building for what could be one of the year’s most explosive and talked-about albums – blending bold confessions, sharp lyrical jabs, and Cardi B’s signature bravado.
