Cause of Death Determined for Grandson of Robert De Niro

The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded its investigation into the untimely death of Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, the 19-year-old grandson of renowned Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro.

In a recent communication with CNN, the Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that the cause of Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s demise, which occurred in July, was attributed to a lethal combination of substances. The toxic mix included fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine. The Medical Examiner’s ruling categorizes his passing as an accident.

Fentanyl, an exceptionally potent synthetic opioid, is highly lethal in isolation. Unfortunately, in many instances of drug-related fatalities, a cocktail of drugs, encompassing benzodiazepines and cocaine, is frequently found in individuals’ systems.

The tragic incident led to the arrest of a woman in connection with the teenager’s death. Sofia Marks was apprehended and charged with selling drugs to a minor. Notably, the law enforcement source clarified that Marks had not been accused of murder.

Drena De Niro, the daughter of Robert De Niro and an actress in her own right, took to Instagram to express her profound grief in the aftermath of her son’s passing. Her heartfelt post commemorated the bond they shared: “You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life… You were so deeply loved and appreciated, and I wish that love alone could have saved you.” In her post, she tagged the young man’s father, the artist Carlos Rodriguez, also known as Carlos Mare.

As inquiries surfaced about the circumstances surrounding her son’s death, Drena De Niro offered clarity through a social media comment. She pointedly stated, “Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him so for all these people still f*king around selling and buying this sht, my son is gone forever.”
