Controversial Influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate Detained in Romania Over UK Arrest Warrant
Internet personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate are set to appear in a Romanian court following their detention by Romanian police on Monday night, prompted by arrest warrants issued by British authorities over alleged sexual offences in the UK.
Andrew Tate, 37, and his brother Tristan, 35, have vehemently denied all charges, according to their representative, who confirmed their arrival at Bucharest’s Court of Appeal on Tuesday.
The Romanian Police disclosed that the arrest warrants were issued based on accusations of exploiting individuals in the UK. The Tate brothers’ spokesperson indicated that the court would decide on the execution of the warrant on Tuesday, characterizing the revival of decade-old allegations as bewildering and distressing.
In a statement, the Tate brothers expressed their firm rejection of the charges, emphasizing their profound disappointment at the resurrection of allegations without substantial new evidence. They affirmed their unwavering commitment to contesting the accusations with determination.
The allegations against the Tate brothers purportedly span from 2012 to 2015. Previously, in December, the brothers, both dual UK-US nationals, were barred from leaving Romania by a court order following their attempt to visit their hospitalized mother in the UK.
Separately, Romanian authorities are investigating the Tate brothers for allegations of rape, human trafficking, and involvement in a criminal gang, charges that the brothers vehemently refute. Prosecutors allege that the brothers exploited women through an adult content business operating as a criminal enterprise.
An indictment published in June also implicated two female Romanian associates alongside the Tate brothers, with seven alleged victims identified. Andrew Tate has consistently maintained that Romanian prosecutors lack evidence against him, asserting that there is a concerted effort to silence him.
Andrew Tate has courted controversy in the past, earning bans from social media platforms due to his espousal of misogynistic views.
