Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has boldly declared that he believes he deserves to have won a staggering 20 Grammy Awards in the past, emphasizing his confidence as he approaches the 66th Grammys ceremony. Despite previous snubs by the Recording Academy, Davido has garnered three nominations for this year’s awards.
In a recent interview with France 24, Davido expressed his gratitude to the Recording Academy for the recognition, stating, “Shout-out to the Recording Academy. This is my first nomination ever. So it’s crazy to get three at once. We worked really hard on this album [‘Timeless’]. I was just really patient. So, if you ask me if I deserve Grammys in the past, I already need 20 Grammys. But, like I said, God’s timing is the best. We will see what happens.”
The highly anticipated 66th Grammy Awards are set to take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles. Davido’s album ‘Timeless’ has earned a nomination in the prestigious Best Global Music Album category, showcasing the artist’s international influence. Additionally, his tracks ‘Feel’ and ‘Unavailable’ have secured nominations in the Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance categories, respectively.
