Davido Targets Album of the Year and Best Global Music Album at 2024 Grammys

The music world is buzzing as the nominations for the 2024 Grammys approach – scheduled for November 10, 2023. Davido, one of Afrobeats’ biggest stars, has his sights set on securing not one but two prestigious awards: Album of the Year and Best Global Music Album.

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards, set to take place on February 4, 2024, are introducing three new award categories to honour musical excellence. These fresh additions include Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.

All eyes are on the Afrobeats artists vying for nominations and potential victory in the newly established category, Best African Music Performance. Davido, a new father of two, has submitted his critically acclaimed “Timeless” album and his chart-topping singles, “Unavailable” and “Feel,” in hopes of securing Grammy recognition.

The list of submitted categories for Davido and his work is as follows:

  1. Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album: “Timeless”
  2. Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best African Music Performance: “Unavailable”
  3. Best Global Music Performance: “Feel”

Before the 66th Grammy Awards kick-off, a total of 122 songs have been submitted for consideration in the Best African Performance category. Among these contenders, Davido’s fourth studio album, “Timeless,” released in March through Davido Music Worldwide, features 17 tracks, including standout hits like “Unavailable” featuring Musa Keys, “Away,” “Picasso,” “Na Money,” “Over Dem,” and “Feel.”

Davido’s mega-hit, “Unavailable,” stands out as the sole Afrobeats track from 2023 to have amassed over 91 million streams, while “Feel” has accumulated 31 million streams on Spotify. As the Grammy anticipation builds, fans and music enthusiasts eagerly await the nominees for these coveted awards.
