Davido Teams Up With JAZZWLRD and GL_CeeJay for New Single I Know Who I Be
Five-time Grammy Award nominee Davido has released a new single, I Know Who I Be, alongside South African producer JAZZWLRD and artist GL_CeeJay, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his music career following his recent appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Produced by JAZZWLRD and GL_CeeJay, the song blends Afrobeats with South Africa’s emerging 3-Step sound, combining energetic basslines with reflective lyrics centred on identity, perseverance and personal growth. The record serves as both a celebration of Davido’s journey in the music industry and a reaffirmation of the legacy he has built over more than 15 years.
Speaking about the release, Davido described the song as a reminder of staying connected to one’s roots despite success.
“I Know Who I Be is more than a song, it’s a reminder that no matter where life takes you, your roots will always be your greatest strength. I know who I be, and after more than 15 years of creating music, the world knows who I am, too.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Dammy Twitch and filmed in Nigeria, tells a story inspired by purpose, resilience and destiny. It follows a young man whose passion for music is discouraged at home but who ultimately pursues his dream by secretly finding his way into a recording studio. The narrative mirrors Davido’s own journey into music and the determination that shaped his career.
Beyond its central storyline, the video also celebrates the relationships that have supported Davido throughout his rise to global stardom. Alongside featured collaborators JAZZWLRD and GL_CeeJay, the visual features several members of his longtime team, including manager Asa Asika, creative director Black Tycoone, close associate Lati, stylist Hollyandroo, and other members of his inner circle.
