Davido to Feature on King Charles III’s Commonwealth Music Playlist
Nigerian music star Davido has been named among the artists featured on King Charles III’s specially curated Commonwealth Music playlist.
The British monarch unveiled his diverse musical selections as part of a new Apple Music show, “The King’s Music Room,” recorded in his Buckingham Palace office.
The playlist features a mix of disco, reggae, and Afrobeats, including songs from global icons like Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, Davido, and Raye. It is set to air next Monday in celebration of Commonwealth Day.
Speaking about the playlist, King Charles III described music as a deeply personal and universal connection, saying:
“Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. I know that is also the case for so many others.”
He added that the selection includes songs that have brought him joy and that the initiative is an innovative way to celebrate Commonwealth Day.
Davido’s inclusion further highlights Afrobeats’ global recognition, placing Nigerian music on a royal stage alongside other celebrated sounds from across the Commonwealth.
