“D’Banj Paid Me Only N50,000 From N1 Million Show Fees During My Time at Mo Hits Records”- Ikechukwu Speaks Out

In a recent revelation, Nigerian rapper and actor Ikechukwu Onunaku, popularly known as Ikechukwu, has shed light on a contentious issue regarding his payment for performances during his time with MoHits Records.

During an Instagram live session hosted by Daddy Freeze, Ikechukwu opened up about his experience under the MoHits Records label, alleging discrepancies in payment arrangements.

The rapper disclosed that despite being contracted for shows with fees ranging from one to two million naira, he received a mere fraction of the agreed amount. Shockingly, Ikechukwu revealed that he was paid only N50,000 for performances, a stark difference from the initially agreed-upon sum.

Ikechukwu further elaborated that the situation escalated when he confronted Dapo Oyebanjo, famously known as D’Banj, one of the owners of the record label, about the payment disparity. Following their confrontation, his compensation was marginally increased to N150,000 per show.

Moreover, Ikechukwu suggested that decisions within MoHits Records, including matters of finance, were primarily influenced by D’Banj’s mother, insinuating that her approval was essential for any significant changes or decisions within the label.

The rapper’s revelation has stirred discussions within the Nigerian music industry, shedding light on potential financial discrepancies and power dynamics within prominent record labels. As Ikechukwu continues to speak out, his disclosures prompt reflections on fairness and transparency within the entertainment sector.
