DeeOne Says Genevieve Nnaji’s Low Social Media Presence Is Hurting Her Brand
Comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, DeeOne, has sparked debate online after suggesting that Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji and other low-profile celebrities are losing relevance due to their absence from social media.
Speaking during a recent episode of Pulse’s Hot Takes podcast, DeeOne argued that today’s entertainment industry thrives on visibility and constant online engagement, adding that those who remain off-grid risk being forgotten by fans.
“Genevieve not talking much on social media is not helping her,” DeeOne said. “Her brand is suffering. Let me rephrase it – anybody who is not posting constantly is not top of mind.”

He further compared Genevieve’s quiet online persona to that of younger internet personalities, claiming that some influencers currently command more relevance in the digital space.
“Peller, the TikToker, is more relevant online in Nigeria today than Genevieve Nnaji,” he added.
DeeOne’s comments have drawn mixed reactions, with some agreeing that the fast-paced nature of digital culture requires consistent online presence, while others argue that timeless talent and legacy can’t be diminished by social media silence.
Genevieve Nnaji, widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, has kept a low profile in recent years, rarely granting interviews or posting updates on her platforms.
