Drake Calls Out Fan for Throwing Vape at Him on Stage in Brooklyn
Brooklyn’s Barclays Center witnessed an unusual incident on Thursday night (July 20) during Drake’s concert when a fan decided to throw a vape directly at the performer onstage. The venue posted a video clip of the incident on its social media platforms the following day, accompanied by a warning: “Reminder: You cannot vape at Barclays Center.”
In the video, Drake can be seen addressing the audience after spotting the vape on the ground near his feet. “Did you throw a vape up here? Come on,” Drake questioned, giving a disapproving look at the crowd. He then asked, “Hey… Who threw this? Who threw the vape?”
Expressing his disapproval, Drake scolded the audience member, saying, “There’s no way you’re taking life seriously if you think I’m gonna pick this vape up and vape with you at the f—ing Barclays Center.”
“You got some real-life evaluating to do,” Drake continued, examining the vape closer and adding, “throwing this f—ing lemon mint vape up here, thinking I’m about to vape with you at the Barclays.”
Sadly, this incident is not the first time Drake has experienced something being thrown at him during a concert this month. On the opening night of his All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage in Chicago, he was hit in the arm by a cell phone, though he did not address the incident on stage that night.
The trend of audience members throwing objects at performers during live shows has become a concerning and dangerous occurrence in recent months.
Notably, Bebe Rexha was injured when a cell phone was hurled at her face, a fan threw her late mother’s ashes onto P!nk’s stage, Kelsea Ballerini was struck by an object mid-song, a sex toy was sent flying at Lil Nas X, an object hit Harry Styles near his eye, and rapper Latto threatened a fan with repercussions after something was thrown at her.
Even Taylor Swift, while trying to interact with fans in the obstructed view stands at one of her recent shows, had to dodge friendship bracelets being thrown at her. The incidents have raised concerns about the safety and respect of artists during live performances.
