Eminem Joins the Ranks of Top 10 Highest-Selling Artists of All Time

Eminem, the iconic Detroit rapper, continues to amass accolades as he enters the third decade of his illustrious career. He has now officially secured a spot among the top 10 highest-selling artists of all time, a testament to his enduring popularity and impact on the music industry.

According to ChartMasters, Eminem, often referred to as Slim Shady, has achieved a remarkable total of 207,262,000 sales throughout his career, propelling him into the prestigious No. 10 position on the list. This accomplishment places him ahead of the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin.

The ranking takes into account album sales, singles sales, and streaming data, with daily updates. Remarkably, Eminem is the sole rapper to secure a place in the top 40, with his closest hip-hop competitor, Drake, ranking at No. 41 with slightly over 120 million sales. Other notable hip-hop acts in the top 100 include Kanye West at No. 61 with 98 million sales and 2Pac at No. 73 with 84 million sales.

Despite this impressive milestone, Eminem has a considerable distance to cover to reach the pinnacle of the list. The Beatles currently occupy the top spot by a significant margin, boasting over 423 million sales.

Notably, Eminem earned recognition as the most certified artist in RIAA history last year, accumulating a remarkable 227.5 million gold and platinum certifications. These certifications are divided into 166 million single certifications and 61.5 million album certifications.

Moreover, Eminem holds the distinction of having the most diamond certifications in hip-hop, with a total of six to his name. These include “The Marshall Mathers LP” (2000), “The Eminem Show” (2002), “Lose Yourself” (2002), “Curtain Call: The Hits” (2005), “Not Afraid” (2010), and “Love the Way You Lie” (2010).

While Eminem continues to achieve remarkable sales and accolades, his position in the realm of hip-hop is not without contention. Just recently, emerging Bay Area rapper Symba challenged Eminem’s self-proclaimed status as a “Rap God” and boldly asserted that he is the superior MC. Symba expressed his respect for Eminem as a man but contended that, as a rapper, he could name five individuals whom he deemed superior.

This ongoing debate underscores Eminem’s enduring influence and the dynamic conversations surrounding his legacy within the hip-hop community.
