Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has released a fresh single titled Round of Applause, adding another dynamic layer to his multifaceted career. Dropped under his Bahd Guys Records imprint, the track follows his 2024 collaboration with Simi, Borrow Me Your Baby, and arrives shortly after his heartfelt revelations during the #WithChude Live event in Lagos on April 30.
Known for weaving activism into his art – as seen in his critically acclaimed Yakubu with Vector and the 2019 Moral Instruction album – Falz takes a more celebratory but still grounded approach with Round of Applause. The Tuzi-produced single is rich with rhythm and lyrical color, fusing Yoruba, Pidgin, and English in a seamless ode to success, joy, and the everyday struggles that often accompany them.
While the song carries a festive tone, its underlying message reflects Falz’s continued awareness of the Nigerian experience. “I’m the kind of artist who draws inspiration from my environment. I can’t help it,” he said during the #WithChude Live session, a sentiment that echoes throughout the track.
