Fan Might Seek Big Bucks for Burna Boy’s Rag

One of the rags that was used by Nigerian superstar Burna Boy to wipe the sweat from his face and arms while performing at the National Stadium last Sunday could be up for grabs.

As reported by The Star, Britney Barned nearly suffered a heart attack after she caught a rag thrown into crowd by the Afrobeats star. She claimed that she is the “biggest fan of Burna Boy in Jamaica”.

“I’m his number one,” she reiterated, adding, “I was about to pass out. I literally had to run away. I went backstage and screamed, only to have people look at me like I was crazy, but I really did not know myself in that moment.”

Singing along to Burna Boy’s On The Low, while waving the sweaty rag in the air, Barned was so on top of the world that she stated that she would not let go of the rag for anything at all.

She said: “I never saw him perform live ever, and God knows when I will see him and be this close to him again. This was worth it. Burna Boy is a great artiste, and after tonight, I can say I love his personality and stage presence. I’m just going to put this rag into a bag and let it ferment. It’s something to remind me of this very time and place.”

However, after the show, she returned backstage in hopes of getting the Last Last singer-songwriter to sign the memento. When asked if she was finding a way to make the value of the sweat-drenched rag go up, she laughed and said, “Wait I can sell it? … I really want to try and get him to sign it.”

“I don’t know how soon I’d sell it, but I may have plans for that. But the least I would sell this for is $100,000. Know any takers? If they want they can bank on it, spend a 100 grand on it. I think I would sell it,” Barned offered in a sing-song voice.

Burna Boy has been known to attract a few overly excited fans at previous performances. Earlier this year, it was reported that while the Grammy Award-winning artiste was performing to a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York, he was pelted with brassieres of female fans who wanted to show their love for him.

Though Barned doubts she would reach to that level of expression, she said she would have liked to have had the opportunity to let him know how she appreciates the impact the music has had on her and others.

“I love the music he makes. It clearly makes people happy, and I must be honest, I don’t really know the lyrics to all his songs, but I’m growing with him. I sing what I understand. Right now I can’t remember which song introduced me to Burna Boy, but I really like Bank On It because of the way the rhythm transitions. It’s catchy, and it may not be my all-time favourite, but I know I’m his biggest fan,” Barned said.
