Femi Kuti Jokes About Avoiding Controversy as He Declines Solo Photo with Korra Obidi
Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti has explained why he avoided taking a solo photograph with dancer and social media personality Korra Obidi, saying he wanted to stay away from unnecessary controversy.
The light-hearted moment occurred after one of Kuti’s live performances in Lagos and was captured in a video later shared by Korra Obidi on Instagram.
During the exchange, the veteran singer jokingly called on his sister, Yeni Kuti, to join them for the photograph, saying he did not want to invite fresh drama.
“I don’t want any problems in my life,” Kuti said in the video, adding that he already had enough challenges to deal with. He also joked that the rain was a sign the gods did not want the picture to be taken.
The interaction comes months after Korra Obidi sparked online debate in December 2025 when she performed a twerking dance tribute at the gravesite of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti during a visit.
Sharing the video from their recent meeting, Korra described the encounter as an honour.
She said she met Femi Kuti and Yeni Kuti at Legacy Studios following her private live concert and thanked Bigbird Kuti for making the meeting possible.
The video has since attracted reactions online, with many social media users interpreting Femi Kuti’s comments as a humorous reference to the controversies that have surrounded Korra Obidi in the past.
