Funke Akindele Responds to Criticism Over Wearing Ring on ‘Marriage Finger’ Post-Divorce
Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has addressed criticism from a social media user who questioned her choice to wear a ring on her “marriage finger” despite being divorced.
The netizen, identified as @OriretanHonour on X, suggested that the actress’s decision might deter potential suitors and advised her to reconsider.
“Funke, it’s unwise to still wear a ring on your marriage finger knowing you’re divorced. Even worse, it might chase away your future husband. Little things count now that you’re still famous, hot, and rich. Mind your public acts. Remove the ring now. You need a man in your life ASAP. Act fast. Be wise,” the post read.
In a straightforward response, Akindele brushed off the concern, emphasizing that financial success is her priority.
“I need money! That’s the koko,” she replied.
Akindele, who has been married and divorced twice, has previously spoken about her marital experiences. Her first marriage to Kehinde Oloyede in 2012 ended in divorce the following year due to irreconcilable differences. Her second marriage to JJC Skillz concluded in 2022 after they welcomed twins together.
During an interview with Wazobia FM in 2022, Akindele reflected on her journey, stating that being divorced twice does not define her as a failure. The actress remains focused on her career and personal growth, undeterred by societal expectations.
