GTA 6 Still on Track for Fall Release, but No PC Version in Sight
Console gamers can breathe a sigh of relief as Rockstar Games has reaffirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) remains on schedule for a fall 2025 release. However, PC players may have to wait much longer, as the company has yet to announce a version for the platform.
No Delays – For Now
During Take-Two Interactive’s latest financial report, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that the highly anticipated game is still on course to launch later this year. However, he admitted that unexpected delays could never be entirely ruled out.
“We believe that arrogance is the enemy of continued success,” Zelnick said in a post-report Q&A session. “Rockstar Games seeks perfection in everything they do. If we focus on delivering for consumers, that’s our best opportunity to succeed.”
Since the record-breaking GTA 6 trailer debuted over a year ago, anticipation has only grown. Rockstar has narrowed the release window to fall 2025, but fans hoping for a PC version are still in the dark.
PC Players Face a Familiar Wait
Rockstar has a history of delaying PC releases, often prioritizing console versions first. A former developer at the company previously stated that building PC versions for multiple hardware configurations and ensuring smooth performance are major challenges, leading to long delays.
Looking at past releases, PC players may be in for another extended wait:
- GTA 3 – 7 months after console release
- San Andreas – 8 months
- GTA 4 – 8 months
- GTA 5 – Nearly 2 years
- Red Dead Redemption 2 – Over a year
If this trend continues, GTA 6 for PC may not arrive until 2026 or later.
Other Take-Two Titles on the Horizon
Beyond GTA 6, Take-Two is preparing to launch several other major titles. Mafia: The Old Country is expected to release this summer, while Borderlands 4 is scheduled for late 2025. There’s still no update on Judas, the highly anticipated game from BioShock creator Ken Levine.
Meanwhile, speculation continues over GTA 6’s potential price tag. Some analysts believe the game could launch at $100, which, if true, could set a new pricing precedent for the industry.
For now, console gamers can look forward to GTA 6 later this year, while PC players remain in limbo, hoping Rockstar won’t keep them waiting too long.
