He’s Very Good But I Don’t Like His Music – Kanye West on Kendrick Lamar
American rapper Kanye West has stirred conversation once again by admitting that he is not a fan of Kendrick Lamar’s music, despite recognizing his skills as a rapper.
Taking to his X handle, West expressed his discontent with Lamar’s feature on Playboi Carti’s new album, I Am Music. He wrote, “I don’t like Kendrick Lamar’s music. He raps very good but I didn’t need to hear him on Carti’s album.”
West’s latest comment adds to his history of outspoken opinions on fellow artists. Last year, he criticized J. Cole for apologizing to Kendrick Lamar over a diss track. During his performance at the 2024 Dreamville Festival, J. Cole publicly expressed regret for taking shots at Lamar in response to the Compton rapper’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s song Like That. Calling his diss the “lamest sh*t” he had ever done, J. Cole sought to make amends.
However, West disapproved of the apology, suggesting that J. Cole had made a mistake by backing down.
