Veteran Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba, has made startling claims about the private lives of some members of the country’s elite, alleging that he has personally witnessed the wives of friends and acquaintances involved in extramarital affairs with powerful figures, including state governors.
Ali Baba shared the revelations during a candid conversation on the Outside the Box podcast, where he reflected on some of the things he has encountered over the years while moving in influential circles.
The comedy legend recounted one incident in particular, describing a moment when he saw a friend’s wife at a governor’s residence engaging in what he implied was an intimate relationship.
“I’ve been in the homes of governors and other powerful men and seen the wives of people I know,” he said. “Some of them are doing things behind closed doors, and I just greet them politely—‘How are you, how’s everything?’ Then the man, usually the politician, taps her backside and says, ‘Go back inside, I’m not done with you.’”
He added that he later encountered the same woman at a public event where her husband introduced her without knowing what had transpired. “He said, ‘Meet my wife,’ and I responded, ‘Ah, madam! Long time. It’s been about five years.’ She just smiled and said, ‘I’ve been around.’ Later, she called to thank me for not saying anything.”
Ali Baba’s remarks have sparked conversations online, with many interpreting his comments as a rare glimpse into the discreet affairs and moral contradictions within Nigeria’s high society. His testimony highlights a hidden side of elite relationships, one that rarely makes headlines but, according to him, is far from uncommon.
