Drake Says Justin Bieber Ignored His DM About Collaborating

Canadian rapper Drake has publicly called out pop star Justin Bieber for allegedly ignoring a direct message about making music together.

The unexpected moment unfolded on Sunday, April 6, after Bieber took to Instagram to tell his nearly 300 million followers: “Dm me if u wanna make music together.”

Drake, who clearly took the invitation seriously, replied in the comments: “I DM’d but no reply.” The remark quickly drew attention, with fans and fellow celebrities weighing in.

While Bieber has yet to respond to Drake’s comment, he received a flood of messages from other artists eager to work with him. Rapper Big Sean, who collaborated with Bieber on the 2012 track As Long As You Love Me, urged him to “Check Dm’s.” Singer Kehlani chimed in with an enthusiastic “Whewwhewwww,” and actor-musician Jaden Smith added: “Check your DMs gang.” Rising country artist Bailey Zimmerman also threw his hat in the ring, commenting: “WE NEED COUNTRY JB.”

The last and only official collaboration between Drake and Bieber was over a decade ago on the 2013 track Right Here, produced by Hit-Boy. Interestingly, Hit-Boy recently reflected on how that beat originally belonged to Big Sean and J. Cole for their song 24k of Gold, but Sean encouraged him to pass it on to Drake and Bieber, recognizing the opportunity for the producer.

Despite the star-studded lineup, Right Here didn’t make a significant commercial impact, peaking at No. 95 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, Drake had previously appeared in Bieber’s music video for his breakout hit Baby.

Whether Bieber will eventually respond to Drake’s latest DM remains to be seen — but the internet is already buzzing over the unexpected shade.
