I Caused Kim Kardashian Trauma – Paris Robbery Suspect, Yunice Abbas

Yunice Abbas, one of the key suspects in the high-profile 2016 armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris, has publicly expressed remorse for the emotional toll the incident inflicted on the American reality star.

Speaking in court on Tuesday during ongoing proceedings against the group accused of orchestrating the $9 million jewellery heist, Abbas, 72, acknowledged the lasting impact of the robbery, saying, “I regret it, not because I got caught, but because there was a trauma.”

This marks a rare moment of reflection for Abbas, who has a lengthy criminal history but admitted this was the first time he truly felt the weight of his actions on a victim. He is one of ten individuals facing charges related to the robbery, which took place while Kardashian was in Paris for Fashion Week.

Abbas had previously admitted involvement in the crime and even published a 2021 book titled I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian. However, during his testimony, he distanced himself from the title, claiming he had no control over it and contesting some aspects of his alleged role in the robbery. He insisted he did not enter the reality star’s room or participate in tying her up, stating he remained downstairs as a lookout.

The group, nicknamed the “grandpa robbers” by French media due to their advanced ages — some defendants are in their 70s and 80s — are accused of various roles in the armed attack, which left Kardashian bound and at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room.

Court proceedings resumed Monday afternoon, with more testimonies expected in the coming days as the trial continues.
