1da Banton Drops Infectious New Single “Woza”
Nigerian artist 1da Banton has returned with a fresh sound on his latest single Woza, released under Squareball Entertainment in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment France. The track, produced by DJ Lewis, is a lively Afrobeats number that continues the momentum from his early 2025 EP Walk With Me.
Titled after the Zulu word for “come,” Woza is a dance-ready blend of rhythmic storytelling and vibrant instrumentation. It showcases 1da Banton’s signature mix of reggae, dancehall, Afrobeats, and cultural elements drawn from his Rivers State roots. The track’s standout talking drums and catchy hook offer a rich sonic experience, with every element crisply layered to enhance its melodic pull.
The song’s rollout began with a teaser posted on X (formerly Twitter) on April 23, accompanied by a nostalgic throwback clip and the caption “WOZA🧨 OUT NOW!!” The release got a notable endorsement a day later when Afrobeats superstar Davido shared it on social media. 1da Banton responded with gratitude, highlighting the rarity of such public support among peers and signalling the growing recognition he’s gaining within the industry.
Woza follows a string of recent singles like Digest and Paid in Full, further cementing 1da Banton’s reputation for versatility. Since his breakout hit No Wahala in 2021 – and its 2022 remix featuring Kizz Daniel and Tiwa Savage, which surpassed 200 million Spotify streams – the Port Harcourt-born artist has steadily climbed the ranks of Afrobeats fame. His music has not only lit up playlists but also landed in global TV spots like Ted Lasso.
