Ice Prince Reveals He Missed University Admission Over N20,000
Renowned Nigerian rapper, Panshak Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince, has opened up about his struggles with education, revealing that he missed out on a university admission due to his inability to pay N20,000.
Speaking during a recent interview on the Listen With Osi podcast, Ice Prince shared that he had only two weeks to come up with the registration fee but couldn’t meet the deadline.
In his words: “I didn’t go to university because of N20,000. I had two weeks to pay that money for registration, but I couldn’t come up with it, and that’s how I lost the admission. I became a studio rat from there.”
The rapper reflected on the challenges he faced growing up, particularly with school fees, often missing large portions of the school term. “I was the guy who would spend at least three weeks out of every school term at home because of school fees,” he said.
Ice Prince also shared how the loss of both parents at a young age shaped his life, adding that he has a family who now depends on him. He lost his father at age 11 and his mother when he was 22.
“I don’t have a mother; I’m an only son, and that’s quite tough. I’ve been that way since I was 11 years old when I lost my dad. I was 21 or 22 when my mum passed away. I don’t have any uncles, aunties, Godfathers, or Godmothers that I can depend on. It’s been nothing but God in my life.”
The rapper, determined to inspire others through his journey, expressed his hope that his story would serve as motivation for people facing similar struggles.
“I want people to look at my life and say, ‘If this imperfect human can be somebody, I have no excuse to fail.’ I want people to remember me as that guy who came out of nothing and became something.”
Ice Prince’s revelations have struck a chord with fans, highlighting his resilience and determination to rise above life’s challenges to become a household name in the Nigerian music industry.
