Iconic Indiana Jones Fedora Sells for $630,000 at Auction
The iconic fedora worn by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom has been sold for an impressive $630,000 (£487,000) at a Los Angeles auction. The brown felt hat, specifically crafted for the 1984 film, drew significant attention from collectors and film enthusiasts alike.
The fedora, a key piece of Indiana Jones’s signature look, was not only worn by Ford but also featured in additional photography at George Lucas’s visual effects facilities. The hat was part of the personal collection of Dean Ferrandini, Ford’s stunt double in the film, who passed away last year. The auction included previously unpublished photos of Ferrandini wearing the hat on set.
In addition to the Indiana Jones fedora, the auction featured other notable movie memorabilia. A helmet worn by an imperial scout trooper in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi sold for $315,000 (£243,000), while a light-up wand used by Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban fetched $53,550 (£41,400). A suit worn by Daniel Craig in the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall also attracted attention, selling for $35,000 (£27,000).
Brandon Alinger, Chief Operating Officer of Propstore, the auction house that facilitated the event, expressed pride in connecting fans with these historic items. “We are proud to have connected such a wide expanse of fans with the historic pieces they cherish,” Alinger said.
The Indiana Jones fedora’s sale price more than doubled that of another hat from the Temple of Doom, which was auctioned for $300,000 (£232,000) in 2021, highlighting the continued demand for iconic film memorabilia.
